If only I'd backed it up better.
Jun. 12th, 2012 03:08 pmI lost my photos and records of my trip to Washington State in 2006. I was very sad to discover this; my desktop is ancient as it is, but I could have sworn I'd burned all the pics to a CD once upon a time. Apparently not, and except for a few hard copies I have at work, the pics are lost forever.
But while I'm thinking of it and remembering it, I want to write down what I remember.
I was in Washington -- specifically, Port Orchard and its environs, though I did go to Seattle, SeaTac, and I drove through Tacoma and am just fine never doing so again thank you. I was there from August 15th-27th 2006, and I stayed with my friend Aliesha.
And I would just like to say that it did not rain once while I was there.
We mostly geeked out, watching anime and PGSM and Dr. Who and generally being dorks. But we did venture outside sometimes:
- She showed me around Port Orchard, naturally. Virtually nothing to do, but pretty place.
- We went to Elandan Gardens and it was beautiful.
- We went to a gorgeous beach with her daughter.
- In Seattle, we did the usual: Pike Place Market, Space Needle (just to see it up close, not go in. Tourist Trap!), saw Starbucks headquarters and laughed at the Starbucks across the street from it. We also did the Pacific Science Center.
- Also in Seattle, we happened to be there in time for the 24hour Improv Event and Game On!. I also saw Snakes on a Plane with Aliesha in theaters. XD
- When Aliesha took me back to the airport, we found out her sister and her girlfriend had their baby!
All in all, it was a very good trip and I had a really good time. I wish I could find the pictures I'd taken. : /
